CHECK THIS OUT!!

Writer's picture: Informed Choice MichiganInformed Choice Michigan

I, Erica, worked in a gastroenterology office.

I assisted with in-office endoscopies, uppers and lowers, and we also took biopsies.

There are biopsy bottles to put the samples in, and then we send those bottles to labs.

In these bottles is what is called a "10% neutral buffered formalin"...

To, you know...preserve the sample.

Here is a picture of one of those bottles!

READ WHAT THIS BOTTLE SAYS!!!

"Caution contains formaldehyde.
Toxic by inhalation and if swallowed. Irritating to the eyes, respiratory system and skin. May cause sensitization by inhalation or skin contact. Risk of serious damage to eyes. May cause cancer - repeated or prolonged exposure increase the risk. May be FATAL if swallowed."...

BUT ITS OKAY WHEN INJECTED?!?!?!?!?
